Gigantic damn fish

Meee-ow! A local fisherman was heard to comment, "Too bad this wasn't a good fish, like a snakehead."
Caption contest, anyone?

The stormy weather brings me new inspiration much to your chagrin.

This was the forecast the Strib emailed yesterday. (PD is Paul Douglas.)

SLIGHT SEVERE STORM RISK AGAIN LATER TODAY. Sticky sun at times, humid, with more strong to severe storms flaring up later in the day (best chance far western and southern Minnesota)...a few rough storms linger into Wednesday as well. Cooler, more comfortable sunshine returns on Thursday and Friday (highs in the upper 70s). A few more storms are possible from late Saturday into the 4th of July as highs warm into the low 80s, just warm enough for the pool or lake. - PD -

These jumped out at me.
Apologies in advance...
Back to Hazelden.

He's Alan Partridge

Comedy for the patient This is something I just got caught up in on BBC America. Partridge is a long running character who gets several BBC serieses about his character getting several serieses. It's like a hyper-seinfeld but he lives in a motor lodge. Anyone?

Gitmo, Poland and the Return of Big Brother

Quiz Me!
I got three, as did Bill. "Comme ci comme ca "
We both know our Polish tourism though.
This may be a spoiler, but I was suprised by # 1.

Current events too tough? How well do you keep track of historical limb loss? Nelsonia!

When you put him in the microwave it sounds just like James Earl Jones.

Darth Tater
"NOOOOOOOO!"This plastic potato is a better actor than Hayden Christensen.
To explain, we got the 4,5,6 box set. Woohoo!
I have recently reviewed the first 1/2 of the original trilogy and wiped away a quarter cetury misconception. I'd forgotten that that Vader's Basso Profundo breaks.
James Earl Jones' voice was not that of a calculating killer, it's the voice of rage. Vader is not a cold Cylon, he's barely holding it together. Seeing it all again it's stupid to imagine Anakin became so Darthy from despair. I agree with Doug, Jim and several others that the remorseful "nooo!" at the end of Sith comes from the deranged Lucas and not the Sith Lord.

In addition to the general suckiness of the new flicks it furhter sucks that the DVDs are re-edited so that "Greedo shoots first" and "Luke slipped". Truthfully I didn't catch the changes when I saw the re-releases and wasn't keyed into them this pass on the DVDs. I have read of them and and knowing where the CGI and sound edits have been pushed in to "polish" the story I will validate them next time around when I'm not clouded with nostalgia.
Overall, there is no question that the digital remasters look freakin awesome. That goes a long way. I'll cry a little each of the next 500 times I watch Empire

From the foot of the CN Tower; It's 25 hours in Ontario

Let's go to Toronto to see what's on the shelf at your local Dominion Market.
Hmm, let's look a little closer at that 'presence' on the All-Bran....

Welcome to the giant Canadian hotel room.
Thanks for the free photo hosting, picasa pixies!

There's a lot of space here. I hope you brought Tai-Bo, or slot cars.

Batman, My Batman

Warning, expectation raising review If you haven't yet seen "Following" you should. "Following" was made for about five grand and I am bindly ready to assert that it is better than "Mr and Mrs Smith." No matter how much screentime they give Vince Vaughan. Batman Begins is probably also about 4,300 times better than the Smiths.
I am just assuming you already saw "Memento."

Other than the fact that it's also a movie I saw on IFC, it reminds me that I just saw "Cecil B Demented." Fantastic.

Now go to IMDB. and look up all of this stuff and Paul Reubens for good measure.

I'll wager a Coke that the sequel will be called "Mr. and Mrs. Smith Blow Up Washington."

The world is full of interesting news. How full are you?

Quiz Me! I got a six. That's pretty good though not perfect, except for the irony of only missing the one about taking exams. Bill got 4 including the last one about "things you might find on an Australian."

A lollipop is a cross between hard candy and garbage.

I can't make it past food I am laughing so hard the dog has left the couch and I have tears in my eyes. These are helped by having seen his special once but I think they work even without his delviery.

Score one for the Time Cube guy

Scientists lose control Dang. This is just disappointing. There's not a line in here clarifying that only "Corporate sponsored rat coddlers" or "Intelligent design theorists" were polled.
It means that the science community, while never in it's history having been established as stainless, fails on a very large level to strive for better. This study will become fodder for a lot of causes that have been calling for the end of rationalism and hurt a lot of good work and that's a shame.
Anyone up for a pool? I'll take global warming as a target within three days.
At least brewers are still considered artists, although that will bring me small comfort as the earth roils in its greenhouse ten years from now and I watch my beer boiling in it's bottle in November.

Covering all the Anglos

Quiz me! This is a great quiz with some straight-forward news from a pretty straight-forward week. I got a miserable two though. Bill got 4. either I need a reasonable guess adjustment or the world has gone mad.

Mad I tell you.

Mystery Solved

Blasted inconsistencies! Why would a robot cough?

Movie Mistakes

"We see in the movie that Gen. Grievous is permanently coughing when he talks. The cause of this can be found in the last episode of the animated saga "Clone Wars". In that episode, Grievous kidnapped Palpatine and before leaving into space he was attacked by Mace Windu, who destroys part of his armor in the chest, making him cough for the first time."
